I have a big trip planned, starting tomorrow, to bring you the most current information on some HOT schools, way to the south of good old Oregon. Soon I’ll be uploading fresh pics and notes for you about visits to two great schools that offer quite different environments, but deliver outstanding academic and holistic experiences.
First stop will be Davidson College, a very competitive small liberal arts college in the little town of Davidson, North Carolina with BIG academics and BIG Div I sports. Perhaps you remember seeing them in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Playoffs. Ranked in the top five nationally for liberal arts colleges, Davidson is well known for rigorous classes and sending many students off to medical school. I’ll be able to post the inside scoop for Oregon students in about 10 days ~ come back and check it out!
Next stop will be Emory University in the not-so-southern big city of Atlanta. With a nationally ranked undergrad business school, a medical school, and a full slate of programs to choose from, Emory is pre-professional paradise in the vibrant city. Amazing partnerships have long been a tenet of Emory, including The Center for Disease Control, The Carter Center, The Yerkes Primate Research Center, and multiple aligned programs with Coca-cola corporation. The possibilities are endless for internships, fellowships, research, and just getting your feet wet in what interests you. Emory, while in the southern part of the US, draws a very diverse student group, with the overwhelming majority of students being from out of the area. Where else could you take a class from The Dalai Lama?
I can’t wait to give you first hand info about what these schools are looking for in students for next year. Who knows? Maybe one of them will fit into your future application plans.
If you have specific questions or information you would like about Davidson College or Emory University, shoot me an e-mail or a note through this website, and I’ll grab the info for you NEXT WEEK on my southern expedition!
