As a School Counselor and College Instructor for over twenty years, I’ve worked with a wide variety of students to help them meet their unique goals.
My name is Rene Manley, the founder of Custom Fit College Planning in Salem, Oregon, and I look forward to helping you find and fund your college dreams. As a School Counselor and College Instructor for over twenty years, I’ve worked with many students to help them meet their goals. My passion and expertise come together with enthusiasm to help inform each student and family I work with, so that every decision you make is one that brings you confidence and excitement.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Oregon State University as well as a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. In addition to school counseling, I have taught at the University, Community College, and high school levels. As a multiply published author and editor, I bring a unique background and expertise to assist you with outstanding application essays. To help inform my clients, I continuously visit college and university campuses around the country and keep in touch with colleagues in many admissions offices.
Lastly, because I believe so strongly that students and families benefit from such expertise, I am a volunteer emeritus with the ASPIRE program in Salem, Oregon, providing college planning assistance and help with scholarships and financial aid to students in lower income Oregon high schools.
As a member of the Pacific Northwest Association for College Admission Counseling and the National Association for College Admission Counseling, I provide services in accordance with best practices consistent with the National Association for College Admissions Counseling, and I encourage you to know and understand your student rights in the college admissions process. Most importantly, I apply this expertise and experience to each student and family in the most individual way – helping you discover and articulate your own needs and priorities, then finding your custom fit schools, and assisting you in each application.
